Stop me if this sounds familiar: the Department of Justice and the FBI launch a baseless, politically motivated investigation into Republican officials — and, surprise, it ends with them being spied on. No, this isn’t Crossfire Hurricane or the infamous Russia collusion hoax. This time, it’s Operation Arctic Frost — a secretive probe under then–Special Counsel Jack Smith that reportedly targeted the communications of multiple GOP senators.
Once that revelation came to light, the obvious question followed: just how deep did this go? Was this blatant abuse of power limited to Jack Smith’s office, or did it climb higher up the chain of command?
According to a memo of authorization obtained by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), it went much higher — far beyond Smith’s team. The document suggests this wasn’t just a rogue operation but a coordinated effort that reached into the upper echelons of the Justice Department. In other words, the weaponization of government against Trump’s political opponents wasn’t a one-off — it was policy.
The two biggest names tied to this operation? Then–Attorney General Merrick Garland and then–FBI Director Christopher Wray. Both personally signed off on it, according to the memo. And let’s be honest — there’s no way something this politically explosive happened without Joe Biden knowing about it…at least when his mind was still operating.
So what was the predicate for such an extraordinary breach of power? There wasn’t one. No credible evidence, no legitimate justification — nothing. Take Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), for instance. He didn’t even vote against certifying the 2020 election results.
Yet Biden’s DOJ and FBI, under Garland, Wray, and Smith, went fishing for a grand conspiracy that didn’t exist — a fantasy in which Trump and top Republican senators supposedly plotted to overturn the election. It was pure political paranoia masquerading as law enforcement.
In reality, none of the senators involved did anything improper or illegal. Contesting electoral votes is a well-established part of congressional procedure — Democrats themselves have done it multiple times. But unlike Republicans, they were never spied on or treated like criminals for exercising their constitutional rights.
That kind of weaponization of the justice system — using surveillance and prosecution to crush political dissent — became the calling card of the Biden administration. It was carried out by self-righteous ideologues who convinced themselves that breaking the law was acceptable if it meant “saving democracy.”
Now, those same people are learning what accountability looks like. The indictment of James Comey is only the first domino to fall over Crossfire Hurricane, and the architects of Operation Arctic Frost won’t be far behind. It’s a grim but fitting outcome. The Left tore down every institutional safeguard to cling to power, believing they’d never face consequences. But they missed — and when you come for the king, you’d better not miss.
One GOP senator targeted by this massive abuse of power – Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee – has already announced she’s filing a lawsuit against these schmucks. And while that’s all well and good, the punishment really needs to match the abuse: I expect…no, I demand…that Trump’s DOJ file some charges against these hacks.
Otherwise, when the next Democrat takes power, this stuff will just happen all over again. There must be consequences.
