Donald Trump Speaks Out on Taylor Swift’s Engagement with a Surprising Joke

Trump Reacts to Taylor Swift’s Engagement with Travis Kelce

Donald Trump isn’t known for soft words — especially when it comes to Taylor Swift. His reaction to her engagement announcement with NFL star Travis Kelce left many jaws on the floor.

A Public Feud

On August 26, Swift and Kelce stunned fans with a huge Instagram post: after two years of dating, they’re officially engaged. Naturally, people wondered — what would the former president say?

Trump and Swift have never been on friendly terms. Their feud has played out publicly for years. Back in 2024, after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president, Trump went on Truth Social, posting: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

It wasn’t an isolated incident. Recently, Trump praised actress Sydney Sweeney for her controversial American Eagle ad:

“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the ‘HOTTEST’ ad out there. The jeans are ‘flying off the shelves. Go get ‘em Sydney!”

Then, he turned back to Swift, adding:

“Just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT.”

Swift has never held back either. In 2019, she called Trump’s presidency an “autocracy.” A year later, after George Floyd’s killing, she wrote on X:

“After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? I will vote you out in November.”

Trump’s Response to the Engagement

When asked about Swift and Kelce’s engagement at a press event, Trump mixed humor with genuine well-wishes.

“Well, I wish him a lot of luck,” he quipped with a grin, sending reporters into laughter.

Then he added warmly:

“Nah, I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person. So, I wish them a lot of luck.”

This reaction came less than 24 hours after Swift and Kelce’s Instagram post, which has already racked up over 26 million likes. The news caused such a stir that FOX News interrupted regular programming, and Google rolled out a special Easter egg with golden confetti when users searched Swift’s name.

Two Years of Love

For Swift and Kelce, the engagement caps off two years of dating. Insiders revealed the couple had already been discussing marriage and starting a family. One source told US Weekly:

“They want to be married and have kids in the future… they feel like they’ve found their person.”

And now, they even have Trump’s seal of approval.
