When the discussion shifted to how Kelly and Mark decided to elope, it quickly transitioned to Kelly’s potential reaction if Lola were to do the same. Although the outcome was favorable for the television star, she surprised everyone by candidly sharing her thoughts on the matter.
“Oh my god, we talk about that all the time!” Kelly disclosed in a clip shared on Instagram on April 22. “We would die. We would literally die … track her down, un-elope her and then make them do it the way that … yeah.”
“They’d track my iPhone … bring me back. ‘You’re un-eloping!’” Lola concurred.

However, that is not the only insight Kelly provided regarding her marriage. As she has stated numerous times before, she also elaborated on why it was logical for her and Mark to marry in such a daring manner.
Mark remarked, ‘We have the day off from work tomorrow — let’s fly to Vegas and elope,’” she mentioned, recalling their meeting on the set of All My Children during the 1990s. “We never had a day off from work, so it felt like the logical choice to make.
Fans may recall that Kelly and Mark were married in May 1996 after portraying love interests Haley and Mateo on All My Children. Following their marriage, they welcomed their daughter Lola along with her two brothers — the elder Michael and the younger Joaquin. Although they have been married for nearly three decades, the couple chose to return in February 2024 to the location where their journey began.
“Do you remember the emotions you experienced on our wedding day?” Kelly inquired of Mark as they stood in the Chapel of the Bells in Las Vegas for a Live segment at that time.
“Some of those emotions resurfaced as I drove up,” he responded. “I began to feel nervous … In a city where individuals take risks every day, this is perhaps one of the safest bets I have made.”
