The scenes at the crash site were harrowing—burned classrooms, charred remains, and debris scattered across rooftops. A significant portion of the aircraft’s tail was discovered lodged in the college building.
Initially, officials feared there were no survivors. G.S. Malik, the Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad, confirmed the retrieval of 204 bodies and cautioned that local residents might also have perished due to the densely populated area surrounding the crash site.
In a startling development, Malik later reported a single survivor: 40-year-old Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, a British citizen originally from India. Ramesh, who was traveling with his brother Ajay, recounted the horrifying ordeal. “Thirty seconds after takeoff, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed,” he shared with local media. “When I regained consciousness, there were bodies all around me.”
Ramesh is currently hospitalized, anxiously awaiting news about his brother. “Please help me find him,” he implored.
Among the deceased were a London couple, Jamie and Fiongal Greenlaw-Meek, who had shared a joyful farewell video prior to boarding. “Going back happily, happily, happily calm,” Fiongal had expressed.
As investigators seek to uncover the truth, Ramesh’s survival serves as a faint beacon of hope amidst the overwhelming grief. Our thoughts are with all the families impacted by this tragic event.
