ICE Arrests Illegal Migrant Accused of Decapitating Illinois Woman

Immigration officials in Chicago apprehended a 52-year-old Mexican undocumented immigrant who is accused of decapitating a missing woman from Illinois and storing her remains in a storage container filled with bleach.

Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, a resident of Waukegan, Illinois, was arrested in April and charged with concealing a corpse, corpse abuse, and obstruction of justice, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Despite the gravity of the charges, Lake County Judge Randie Bruno promptly ordered Mendoza-Gonzalez’s release from custody after his first court appearance.

He was re-arrested on Saturday afternoon at a market in Chicago by agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is currently being held in ICE custody, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

In April, law enforcement in Waukegan, Illinois, found the body of 37-year-old Megan Bos—who had been reported missing on March 9—in a container situated in the yard of Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez.

Her family stated that Bos had gone missing in February.

Mendoza-Gonzalez is alleged to have kept her remains on his property for nearly two months and to have abused her corpse, as reported by Fox News.

DHS officials informed FOX News that Bos had been decapitated and her body was found in a storage container filled with bleach.

“It is utterly repugnant that this monster roamed free on the streets of Illinois after allegedly committing such a horrific crime,” a DHS spokesperson remarked to the outlet. “Megan Bos and her family will receive justice.”

After Mendoza-Gonzalez’s release in April, Antioch Mayor Scott Gartner criticized the laws that allowed the suspected criminal alien to be released, according to a report from FOX 32 Chicago.

“I was astonished to learn the very next day that the individual arrested for this had been released from custody under the SAFE-T Act in less than, I believe, 48 hours,” Gartner stated.

“Someone who concealed their body in a trash can for 51 days after leaving it in the basement for two days, following a failure to call 911 and breaking a phone. Is this considered a non-detainable offense?” Weber inquired. “Should we not investigate, await a toxicology report, or anything else?”

The acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) stated that his agency will apprehend anyone found to be residing in the country illegally, irrespective of their criminal history, while also intensifying enforcement against employers who hire unauthorized individuals.

Todd Lyons highlighted in an interview with CBS News that the agency will concentrate its “limited resources” on identifying and deporting “the worst of the worst,” individuals who are unlawfully present in the U.S. and possess serious criminal records.

Nevertheless, Lyons clarified that even non-criminals living in the U.S. without legal status will be detained during enforcement actions. He contended that so-called “sanctuary” policies—where states and municipalities restrict cooperation between ICE and local law enforcement—are compelling agents to enter communities to execute arrests, as noncitizen inmates are not being handed over, as reported by CBS.

“What is, once again, frustrating for me is the reality that we would prefer to concentrate on these criminal aliens who are currently in a jail facility,” Lyons expressed to Face the Nation’s Margaret Brennan on Sunday. “A local law enforcement agency or state agency has already determined that individual to be a public safety threat and has arrested them, placing them in detention.”

“I would much rather allocate all of our limited resources to that effort to take them into custody, but we are compelled to venture into the community and conduct those arrests, which is where you are witnessing an increase in so-called ‘collateral’ arrests.

If ICE encounters someone “who is present in the country illegally, we will detain them,” Lyons affirmed.
